The Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering (ATSE) and the Industry Mentoring Networking in STEM (IMNIS) invites you to join us for Engaging with Industry Western Australia.
This event focuses on how, when and why researchers engage with industry, the importance of understanding commercialisation, milestones, timelines and budgets, developing strong professional connections beyond academia, as well as how developing an entrepreneurial mindset can facilitate resilience and success in any setting.
Keynote speaker Professor Melinda Hodkiewicz FTSE provide insights and learnings from throughout her career.
Following the Keynote presentation, a panel facilitated by Scott Cummins GAICD, and including special guest panellists, Simon Molyneux, Dr Lil Pantelic and Dr Navpreet Kaur will share their experiences engaging with industry across all facets of the industry pipeline.

KEYNOTE
Professor Melinda Hodkiewicz FTSE
Professor, University of Western Australia
Professor Melinda Hodkiewicz is instrumental in developing and implementing best practice methods in asset management nationally and internationally. She chaired the Standards Australia committee responsible for the ISO 55001 Asset Management Standard and in 2016 received the MESA Medal, a lifetime achievement award for services to the asset management community.
In 2015, Professor Hodkiewicz became the BHP Billiton Fellow for Engineering for Remote Operations at UWA. In 2016, she was appointed to the METS Ignited Advisory Council, and the following year she joined the National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority Advisory Board.
In 2018, Professor Hodkiewicz was awarded a Visiting Fellowship at the Alan Turing Institute in London with the Data Centric Engineering group to work on the “Siri for Maintenance” project and was also part of the successful Australian Research Council and industry-funded bid to establish a new Centre for Transforming Maintenance through Data Science.
She is a bridge builder working at the nexus of industry and universities, valued for her technical expertise. By establishing multidisciplinary teams she has broken new ground in understanding human, organisational and technology factors that affect asset maintenance and safety.

Scott is based at ATSE in Canberra and was previously the Board & Governance Partner with the Australian Institute of Company Directors, where he worked to enhance the performance of boards & organisations through tailored in-house education & governance evaluations.
Scott’s career has covered the public & private sectors, not-for-profits & charities, and he previously worked within the Australian Renewable Energy Agency’s, Emerging Renewables Program.
Scott holds a Bachelor of Security Analysis and is a graduate of the AICD. He is also currently completing a Graduate Diploma in Data and Cyber Management.
